This is a common question asked at Soulful Fitness Lane Cove a Yoga and Pilates studio specifically designed to help people gain strength, flexibility, fitness and lose weight that wouldn’t walk into a gym. The whole concept of the studio was designed based on the fact that 60% of Australian’s are obese yet not even 20% are actively exercising on a regular basis. Whilst the fitness industry is catering well with diversity for the people who love fitness, there is something missing. People can still get amazing results with their strength and weight loss goals without having to get too sweaty or push themselves until they feel sick. This approach appeals to the huge part of our community who are busy, tired, stressed and looking for long term ‘can do’ lifestyle solutions to fix their current conditions.

Pilates classes come in a variety of sessions to suit all ages, strength and fitness levels. Pilates mat classes are done in the larger studio and incorporate exercises on the floor especially working in strengthening the belly region, lower and upper back. Increasing core stability is essential for strong posture and allowing our bodies to take additional load when carrying groceries, carrying children, travelling with suitcases and especially to support your spine whilst sitting at an office desk or day.

Pilates Reformer classes take the exercises to the next level with the workouts done on the Pilates reformer beds offering spring resistance to your movements. The whole class is done lying, sitting or standing on the bed and using gentle, slow movements with spring resistance allowing your body to gain flexibility, and build longer leaner stronger muscles.  Muscle building and general movement is important for increasing your metabolism and weight loss.

Feeling like even taking it to a higher level or you have a more pressing weight loss deadline like a wedding or tropical island holiday planned? Fit reformer is a class using the Pilates beds and the cardio trampolines for extra cardio fitness making you work harder and Power reformer is a reformer class using heaver springs and less rest.

Losing weight is also accelerated when you are doing your Pilates classes regularly each week and following a well balanced eating plan of lower sugary carbohydrates and more vegetables and lean meats. Soulful Fitness at Lane Cove offers free nutrition coaching on Thursday nights for all members so attend regular for maximum weight loss tips, support and education.
